Welcome to Nicholson Primary School
Hello and a very warm welcome to our school community.
My name is Sue Clague, and I’m incredibly proud and privileged to be the Principal of Nicholson Primary School.
We’re a small rural school located near the beautiful Nicholson River, just 10km east of Bairnsdale along the Princes Highway. Currently, we have 72 wonderful students, and we’re steadily growing—which is very exciting!
Nicholson Primary is a vibrant, welcoming school where learning is at the heart of everything we do. Our goal is to provide all students with rich, challenging, and personalised learning experiences. We want every child to feel inspired, supported, and confident in reaching their full potential.
We are a values-based school, and our dedicated staff work closely together to ensure the best possible outcomes for our students. We hold high expectations, promote excellence in practice, and—most importantly—show genuine care and support for every child and their family.
To foster wellbeing and strong relationships, we use a Restorative Practice approach. This helps our students develop positive attitudes to learning and supports behaviour using a strengths-based model.
As part of the Mitchell River Cluster, we regularly enjoy shared activities such as sports days and group learning opportunities with other local schools.
Nicholson Primary is truly a small school with a big heart. We’re proud of our strong community spirit, the amazing support from our families, and our hardworking School Council who help keep everything running smoothly.
Thank you for visiting our website. We hope you get a sense of the caring and dynamic environment that makes our school so special. If you’d like to know more, please don’t hesitate to get in touch—we’d love to hear from you!
Warm regards,
Sue Clague
